Here we are again, back at the hospital was too early for Titus! On the schedule for today was Rylaze injections (because it is Friday, he gets 3) and his favorite 😆 wound vac dressing change. Therefore, when we left the house I gave him some Ativan (to help him relax and tolerate the wound vac dressing change a bit better), then his pain meds when we got to the hospital 1 hour later plus he had to have Tylenol for his Rylaze. When he got up this morning his picc line had blood all in the dressing! So glad we already had an appointment in the clinic. When we got here and checked in I let the nurses know what was going on with it and they got us right back. He was shivering so ALL the nurses were a bit freaked out because they thought he had a fever ( fever=hospital admission). No fever thankfully, he is just always really cold. They were able to get the picc line cleaned up and it was not actively bleeding and had not been pulled out so that was great news! He must have just slept on it funny. They got him all sealed back up while he watched the entire process. 🫣 Then it was time for the wound vac dressing change. He likes to take the dressing off himself. Erin (his fabulous surgical nurse practitioner) sprays it with the adhesive remover while he pulls it off. He says he is trying to build up his pain tolerance. Well, today he kept pulling and the whole sponge came out! 1 week ago that part was so painful Erin would have to put a little saline on the sponge and pull it our so gently and it took a few minutes to get it out. I think his medications were working! Don't get me wrong, it is still very painful for him but he is doing awesome with it! His wound looks so much healthier and smaller every time she changes the dressing. Hopefully next week we can get some good news about getting rid of the vac! He was pretty spicy while heavily medicated. I like it though, he says what he thinks and feels and he is typically more reserved. He makes the nurses laugh. His hemoglobin and platelets look really good. His white blood cell count and ANC is really low, which is expected at this point. We will be back on Monday to see if his counts are good enough to start the next round of chemo, if not then he gets no chemo next week! I will keep you all posted. Thank you again for continued prayers!
